It started with uncertainty. Before Gate Smashers became a community of millions, it began with one student trying to find direction.
01Before Gate Smashers
I did not always know where I was headed.
I studied in a tier 3 engineering college. There was no grand plan, no entrepreneurial background and no thought of becoming a teacher. Like many students, I was simply going with the flow.
Then, during my final year, I realised that many people around me seemed to know where they were headed. I did not. For the first time, I understood what it meant to lack direction.
That uncomfortable realisation changed everything.

Gate Smashers began with a whiteboard, a marker and one clear goal: make difficult Computer Science concepts easier to understand.
The first lecture was on normalization. Pressing record felt uncertain, but that one lesson became the beginning of everything that followed.

Gate Smashers did not begin with Varun saying yes. It began with Naina refusing to let the idea remain only an idea.
Naina Wadhwa Singla created the channel, pushed Varun to record the first videos and handled the editing, posting and day to day management from the very beginning.
What started as her belief in an idea became a learning community for millions of students.
